The ADEX dental exam now
- Who gives it
- ADEX, the American Board of Dental Examiners. CDCA‑WREB‑CITA merged into ADEX in August 2025.
- Computer part
- The DLOSCE, made by the JCNDE. Since August 1, 2026 it replaces the DSE OSCE.
- Clinical parts
- On a manikin: periodontal (required since August 1, 2026), endodontic, prosthodontic, anterior restorative and posterior restorative.
- DLOSCE formats
- Single- and multiple‑response multiple choice, prescription tasks and 3D models.
- Standalone DLOSCE
- Ended after October 9, 2026. New candidates take it as part of ADEX.
- Where it counts
- 48 states and other jurisdictions accept or require ADEX, per the ADA. Your state board decides.

A timeline. August 2025: CDCA-WREB-CITA merged into ADEX, the American Board of Dental Examiners. August 1, 2026: the DLOSCE became the computer part of the ADEX dental exam, replacing the DSE OSCE, and the periodontal exam became required. After October 9, 2026: the DLOSCE is no longer given on its own.
