About the CSCE OSCE
The ADEX dental hygiene exam has a clinical part, on a patient or simulated patient, and a computer‑based part called the CSCE OSCE. Our course reviews the computer‑based part.

About the exam today
- Who gives it
- ADEX, the American Board of Dental Examiners, at computer testing centers. CDCA‑WREB‑CITA merged into ADEX in August 2025.
- Length
- About 2.5 hours in the seat, with 1 hour 55 minutes of exam time.
- Questions
- Roughly 100 scored items, plus some unscored pilot questions.
- Formats
- Multiple choice, extended match, drop down, fill in the blank, hot spot, and drag and drop.
- Cases
- Simulated patients, shown with photographs, radiographs, models, lab data and other clinical material.
- Passing
- A scaled score of 75 or higher. Some items can earn partial credit.

What the review will cover
- Image identification: intraoral and extraoral photos and radiographs.

- Practice in every item format the exam uses, including hot spot and drag and drop.
- A timed mock exam the same length as the real one.
